World of WearableArt
(WOW) Wellington
25 September - 12
October, 2014
New Zealand’s WOW or World of WearableArt high fashion and art in a
spectacular stage show.
Attracts entries and
audiences from all over the world.
Although the event
is now held in Wellington, New Zealand’s capital, it had
humble beginnings, starting in Nelson when local sculptor Suzie Moncrieff came
up with the idea of taking art from the gallery wall to adorn the human body. A year-round museum honouring the history of this visual
extravaganza has been established in Nelson,
housing collections from finalists and winners for the past 20 years.
Wellington, built on
the edge of a deep harbour and steep surrounding hills, is New Zealand's 'creative capital'.
The city is home to the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa, the New
Zealand Symphony Orchestra and the Royal New Zealand Ballet, and the famous
beehive full of buzzy bees ‘politicians’ where NZ’s parliament sits.
The most beautiful
city that stacks up the sides of the surrounding hills and spreads all the way
east west north and south.
Far too much to show
you in a day so join us on our hikoi through just one of the most stunning cities of NZ.
Thanks for joining us
today!
